so will this injuury to Brent Tate cause people (like GYR) to complain that when a team wins the 1st 2 games that the 3rd shouldnt be played much like these same people complain about city/country causing unneccesary injuries?

Of course it needs to be played. As seen on Wednesday night there is no such thing as a dead rubber in State of Origin. Yes there is an extra game which could mean the chance of injury but what is there is also a chance players could be injured in the next club game they play.

If you talk about it being an unnecessary game then why don't we stop playing club game which involve teams who can't make the 8 near the end of the season? It's a ridiculous idea and all 3 games must be played. It's a matter of pride as the blues showed on Wednesday night and what better feeling would there have been for Queensland if they came out and made it 3-0? If they stopped the series after 2 games everyone would be asking "Would QLD have made it 3-0?" and it would be a never ending debate.

They should keep it, it gives the team that lost the first 2 games a chance to restore some pride

Any opportunity to beat NSW should never be missed.

State of Origin is Rugby League's showpiece event. People who normally aren't interested in the game watch Origin. Rugby League would not be anywhere near as strong as it is without it.

Maybe the narrow-minded CEOs of some Sydney clubs who care nothing for the advancement of the game and more about their own backyard need to have that explained to them.

They will always play the 3rd Origin. Even if one side has beaten the other by 40 in the first two games, the third will be played for one simple reason - $$$$$$$.

And I would not be happy if they cut it down to two games if one side won the first two fixtures.

Maybe there should just be one game, or 5 games.

Maybe there should just be one game, or 5 games.

24 rounds, with the top 2 qualifying for the finals!
