Ray Warren Commentary

I know Andrew Voss is doing the commentary for RL2, but who would you prefer to do the commentary on a later rugby league game, Ray Warren or Andrew Voss?
Id prefer Rabbits.

I also think they should also have Sterlo and Fatty commentating after a try is scored for like replays... "If you freeze it there."
And they can keep Andrew Voss but use him as a sideline commentator for like instances when an injury occurs.

Like in Fifa 2004 (havent played 05) they would have 2 or 3 commentators, and they would even cut in on each other like this...

in ARL 96 Rabs does the commentary but every so often fatty pops up with something stupid. Can't remember some of the things fatty said's cause i haven't played it in years. But some of it funny stuff

- "oh its uppercut time, should we give him a double or a triple? triple? will do rabbits"

- "oh you will be in the queensland jumper one day"

Rabs was their first choice both times, but he flat out refused... As for fatty and sterlo... ugh I hate both those tossers, give me Daley and Warren smith, at least they have something interesting to say!

fatty and sterlo are personalities and they have a price tag and would be a selling point for noobs who prefer celebrities over substance.....

Andrew Voss is the only good member of the Bias Channel Nine Commentary team. First of all 'Rabs' has the mouth from the south, but his comments are absolutely bias, if your'e not the Roosters, Bulldogs or St George, he doesn't rate you. When the Broncos smashed the Roosters earlier this year, all Rab's could do was comment on how the Roosters will come back instead of complementing the Broncos on a good game plan, for a commentator hes definately not impartial. Gus Gould's imput is totally outrageous every time im sure that 90% of people don't even pay attention to what he has to say. Fatty is a deadset traitor to Queensland fans, we thought he'd balance the commentary but he hardly has anything good or constructive to say about either the Broncos, Cowboys or Queensland. Sterlo has actually changed his stance in the commentary box, unlike the rest of the team, Rabs is the only one who disagreed with the comparisons between Johns and Lewis. Voss is the only decent commentator at channel nine and by far the only one with an open mind. I haven't heard the Pay TV commentators but if you's all believe that they're good then they could be the answer, maybe them and Vossy doing some standup throughout the game.

wow, i personally only hate fatty, sterlo cause they always tease falcon on the footy show thats real slack lol.. apart from that i never listen to their 2 cents, they are boring and completely stupid..

you should know biased if you watch any bronco game on nine in brisbane luda, the commentators are dredfully bronco biased but i guess that would wash over a head full of the wayne bennett brand(tm) seige mentality that grips every football mind in "queenzealand"!! and it seems to have a firm grip on your neither regions when it comes to you posting on this forum sunshine......... its a case of the pot calling the kettle maroon... and maybe with a stripe of yellow and white here and there

The only commentator worth even listening to in Australia is Vossy. He is unbias, he knows almost everything there is to know about Rugby League (if you ever get a chance to meet him, he is a great source of information regarding the game), and best of all, he doesn't come up with any stupid comments unlike Rabs, Fatty and Sterlo.

Warren Smith, Laurie Daley, Wayne Pearce and that fat moron from Fox Sports are hopeless when it comes to commentating. They are good at hosting the NRL Scoreboard and NRL on FOX shows, but when it comes to calling the game, they are shocking. Greg Alexander is a good sideline commentator, but when he is in the box, he can be annoying as well if he is heard too much. Daley and Pearce, while they were good players, they have no idea when it comes to reading the game from the sideline.

The NZ guys, they are unbiased, don't say anything stupid (unless it is so incredibly stupid it is funny) and are probably my favourite team to listen to from the NRL. The only problem with their coverage is that the Sky Sports producers have no idea how to cover a game of Rugby League and cut too much to the sideline, to the crowd, to a stupid camera angle and so on.

The Superleague commentators, in my opinion, are without a doubt the best commentating team in League at the moment. Sure, they are biased when it comes to the international matches, but that is just because they love their country... but they do at least give Australia and other countries their props. Listen to the Nine team, and they don't do that at all apart from Voss.

I don't even want to say what I think of Mr "Mention the Rorters" Gould...

NZ commentators are untalented - painfully bias - and say ridiculous things...if I had to count the number of times I have heard the useless NZ team on ABC Radio say - "IF YOU JUST LOOK AT THIS..." Ahh.....hello :confused:

Because it is a Footy variety show. If you looked at the inception of the show - it was a show, that used footy as a premise to havea lot of fun...which is what they did.

If you watch the shoe now - they have switched the focus to becomeing a rugby league show that has a little bit of fun...

With regards to the FOX callers...Mark Braybrook has to be the worst NRL caller at the moment. Or for a long time - if there isnt a better caller out there in Australia then that is a bad sign.

Smith and Daley are very very good together and are very enjoyable and informed at their job.

Sterlo has an insane knowledge of the game and reading the plays - I challenge to sit there and IMMEDIATELY after a complex try has been scored break it down without benifit of reply - it takes a Rugby League brain to work that...plus he is a very personable guy and has a really good voice for commentary.

Gus - for all his flaws - knows the game....just ask him.He is also a passionate guy - and hey, ifthe guy on TV doesnt insight some reaction then he shouldnt be there...Gus can ALWAYS get a reaction out of you...9/10 times thats just his aim.

Fatty - is the face of the Footy show - and for all his short comings as a commentator/host/analyst/person he is just a funny guy to watch and his lack of flawless proffesionalism endeers him to TV viewers.

Vossy - Is crazy in his knowledge of facts/dates/RL Trivia...but as a caller - he is very good but isnt as good as Rabs in capturing the feeling and emotion of a moment. It isn't something you learn - it is something you have or don't have...which is why Rabs is the number 1 guy now and has been for the last 15 years...he can capture the energy, excitment and emotion of a moment.

Anyway - thats my analysis of all things commentary - which is an area I take particular interest in...which is why I have a lengthy and wide view on it...people agree, people disagree... fact is they are there - and until they are replaced they will remain there.

ray warren can call the football extremely well but doesnt know the players. andrew voss knows every single player from every single grade but lacks the feel of a ray warren call

You shouldn't quote Mick on that. Have you even seen an Al Snow match that hasn't been watered down by the crapness that is the WEE? Go and watch some of his ECW stuff to see how good he can get, especially some of his stuff when he first started with Head.

Heres an idea. To give the game that lil bit extra feel/atmosphere y not have ray warren just commentating the origins. Coz playin an origin and hearin vossy's voice just isnt the same. and have him say different things to what vossy does for the regular season therefore giving origin that extra bit of atmosphere and making it unique

Mark Braybrook from Fox Sports is the best commentator by far... Although he doesnt know all the players like Vossy, and he doesnt really understand Rugby League as much as Ray Warren, he puts great emotion in every facet of the game. He is not annoying in any way, and makes you feel more involoved with the game then anyone else in the business...
He is closely followed by Laurie Daley and Warren Smith combo

I hate Paul Green... Yes, he does tell it like it is, but he has an annoying voice, and if you've ever heard him say 'clarit' (most annoying word ever) you will see what i mean. Sterlo knows heaps, probably knows the most in the whole of Nines commentary team.

Exactly. Phil Gould is the most biased piece of crap in the media today. I find him even worse than Rebecca Wilson, and I can't stand her.
