Who do you think is the best Current Aboriginal Player?

Doggiesfan
08-10-2006, 08:57 AM
Greg Inglis.

Justin Hodges, Willie Tonga, Jonathon Thurston, Matt Bowen, Preston Campbell and Amos Roberts are good, too.

I do think he's the best. I think he's more than the best Aboriginal player. He's one of the top five Rugby League players in the world.

Well You know what they say, If youre good enough your old enough.

I think there are a few who are more complete than Inglis:)

I think there are a few who are more complete than Inglis:)

He's 100kg, 194cm, he's super fast, he's got strength, skill, he can goalkick, he can play anywhere in the three-quarter line aswell as at fullback and five-eighth, he has the ability to turn a game on its head and he's still young.

How can you be more complete?

Both overrated.

I never ever rated Tim Smith. He's had his best season IMO. Plus, Inglis is not overrated. People rate him highly but about where he should be or possibly less. Inglis is the best back in the competition.

Therefore, underrated.

Minichello for starters. Also Gasnier, Lyon and Hodges (and Tonga IMO, but people will disagree with me there).

Why would you put Willie Tonga in the second row just so you could play Milton Thaiday of all people? And then leave out Carl Webb and Sam Thaiday?!?!

Then you have Amos Roberts at halfback despite having Preston Campbell, Matt Bowen and Johnathan Thurston to choose from.

This would be a better side:

1. Greg Inglis
2. Ty Williams
3. Justin Hodges
4. Willie Tonga
5. Amos Roberts
6. Preston Campbell
7. Johnathan Thurston
8. Brent Kite
9. Rod Jensen
10. Carl Webb
11. Sam Thaiday
12. Anthony Tupou
13. John Sutton

LOL, you were praising Inglis then you left him out of your team

do you mean CHARLIE (roosters) or WILLIE tonga in #11 (if charlie then gee you love your bulldogs - there' wouldn't be even ONE in the 17 you gave :p , and if you mean the willie then why is he in the 2nd row
... i've also noticed several other players out of position, or not in the position they're most effective..

in mine, maybe even swap Hodges and Bowen around as Justin's explosive as fullback (right Newcastle & Bulldogs fans :p )

not sure if these players are aboriginal, torrest straight islander, etc.

Nah, he picked him at five-eighth. Keep in mind, Matt Bowen was at fullback, Johnathan Thurston was at hooker and Preston Campbell was on the bench. He also felt the need to pick Amos Roberts at halfback.

Your squad has a few problems as well. Two outside backs and two locks on your bench, and no hooker as yet. Rod Jensen can play hooker - he does for the Cowboys sometimes.

Actually, he does have the ring. He wore #18 on that night. Everyone got their own number and Thurston ended up with the remaining ring - the #10 (because Price didn't play). He felt that Steve Price deserved it for his efforts all year and for 'being the best bloke in the world'. The Bulldogs requested an 18th ring and their request was met. Thurston has a ring.

To the ppl who say Inglis is over rated i gota say I used to play for Norths Jrs and i would go down to Norths to watch him play before he got into Storm, and he was damn unstopable, he got player of the year after only playing about half the games for Norths and he avreged 2 trys a game. and after last year i remember the ppl on NRL on FOX saying that he won't be as effective this year when the players know to watch out for him but he still managed to score 19 trys in 20 games or watever it was so if you ask me Inglis is not overrated at all.

EDIT:And whoever said Inglis is crap under the high ball is an idiot, what because he droped 1 ball in SOO makes him crap? he is probably 1 of the safest players under the high ball.

Yeah you're right, Paea is a Tongan name.

You'd think the same about Tonga (eg Willie Tonga) but he's Aboriginal.

Read my post again.

Now, please tell me when Adam Mogg scored two tries on the International stage. He's never played an international in his life.

C'mon, Alec, you're smarter than that.

Didn't see the international part...:o

I must have missed it. I tend to tune out when I read your exciting stat filled posts.

That wasn't one of those exciting stat filled posts, though. It had one stat (that Inglis once scored twice in a Test match) but thats hardly stat-filled.

Anyway, reading the post before arguing against it is advised. Just be a little more careful in future. :)

The Paeas aren't...Willie Tonga is half, he's my mate's cousin, his dad's Tongan and his mum's Aboriginal from Peak Hill...Tahu is half Aboriginal and Thaiday is Torres Strait Islander, same as Aboriginal.

He's 100kg, 194cm, he's super fast, he's got strength, skill, he can goalkick, he can play anywhere in the three-quarter line aswell as at fullback and five-eighth, he has the ability to turn a game on its head and he's still young.

How can you be more complete?

he can goalkick? never seen him doing that before.

i don't think Inglis is overrated.

well by the majority of the people who watch him "beast" "freak" bla bla it's all good.

but when ______ (random bulldogs fan, honestly forget which one it is) goes off his nut about how inglis is already god's gift to league and andrew johns isn't fit to tie inglis' shoe laces.

that's when he gets a tad overrated.
